Egg, rain proof pans, good traces of original case colour hardening, half-stocked with chequered wooden grips, blued butt caps decorated with stands of arms, oval gold escutcheons engraved with the motto FESTINA LENTE within a garter and with a double headed eagle surmounting a crown, set triggers with border and scroll engraved blued spur trigger guards, horn topped wooden ramrods, in their green baize lined mahogany case, the inside of the lid with maker's trade label for Corner of Coventry Street, complete with red leather covered three-way powder flask, mould, wad cutter, combination trunscrew, cleaning rod, pewter oil bottle and key to case. These guns appear to retain most of their original finish. One small split to fore-end on one pistol and burr scar to top flat. The crest is probably that of the Hoare Family. A pair of silver mounted carriage pistols bearing the same crest sold as lot 557 on the 29th of July 1980 at Sotheby's and also a flintlock fowling piece by Clarkson bears the same crest and motto sold at Wallis & Wallis as lot 116 5th October 2015.
