A FINE 19TH CENTURY INDIAN KHANDA OR SWORD

77cm blade with swelling double edged tip, the forte decorated with Ganesh, Shiva and other gods in thick silver damascene amidst scrolling foliage and a bordered panel decorated with flowerheads, struck with a trident form maker's stamp, characteristic hilt with elongated langets, domed quillons, scroll knuckle guard with bud terminal, dished disc pommel with domed sunburst top with spherical finial, the whole decorated scrolling foliage, geometric designs and flowerheads in the Sikh fashion.
