A 1796 PATTERN LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SABRE

81.5cm curved fullered blade decorated with scrolling foliage, flowerheads, a stand of arms and an Eagle's head to one side of the forte, all highlighted in gilt on a blued ground, regulation steel stirrup hilt, wire bound leather grip, in its steel scabbard. The Eagle's head may suggest it was made for the American market.
