A VERY RARE .730 CALIBRE PERCUSSION EAST INDIA COMPANY PUNJAB MOUNTED POLICE CARBINE

21inch sighted barrel with various Arsenal and rack markings (1796) to the top of the breech, border engraved lock stamped with the EIC rampant lion mark, full stocked with regulation brass mounts, swivel ramrod. The Punjab Mounted Police formed part of the Punjab Irregular or Frontier Force (the famous PIFFERS). An identical carbine is illustrated in Small Arms of The East India Company, bearing the number (1817).
