A FINE PAIR OF 82-BORE FLINTLOCK MUFF PISTOLS BY T. MORTIMER & SON
1.25inch turn-off barrels, chevron engraved and the breeches and with proof marks to the underside, border and chevron engraved boxlock actions decorated with stands of arms and signed T. MORTIMER & SON LONDON GUN MAKER TO HIS MAJESTY, rain proof pans, folding triggers, sliding safeties engaging both the cock and the frizzen, slab sided wooden butts, each set with a rectangular white metal escutcheon with clipped corners and engraved with the owner's crest (Talbot), motto and initials JH. Formed as Thomas Mortimer & Son in 1807 and died in 1824.
