A GOOD GERMAN ARTILLERY NCO'S PRESENTATION SWORD BY EICKHORN

86.75cm curved fullered blade with Eickhorn stamp to the forte and etched with scrolling foliage and 3 Battr, A.R. 55 to one side and the other side with an artillery train flanked by scarce large eagles and swastikas, regulation gilt stirrup hilt with wire bound celluloid grip, in its black painted steel scabbard. The 55 th Artillery Rgt was a Heavy Artillery one, formed at Braunschweig in 1935. It took part in the 1939 Polish Campaign, and the Invasion of Holland and France in May, 1940, as part of the 19 th Infantry Division before becoming the 19th Panzer Division in November, 1940, taking a leading role in the battles on the Russian Eastern Front.
