A 17TH CENTURY ENGLISH CAVALRY OFFICER'S SILVER ENCRUSTED BACK SWORD

81.5cm triple fullered blade incised JOHANNES WUNDES GLORIA to either side in the central fuller, further struck with a deep King's Head mark to either side, characteristic hilt with shell guard, D-shaped knuckle bow and spherical pommel, solid iron grip, the whole inset with silver pellets within silver linear borders. See The Price Guide to Antique Edged Weapons by Southwick Pg 93 Fig. 240 for a similar hilt.
