AN 18TH CENTURY SCOTTISH DIRK

31.75cm blade, double edged towards the tip, characteristic carved wooden hilt with rounded shoulders, decorated with a lower band of Celtic strapwork and an upper knotted band, the central part of the grip with linear and chevron decoration, the underside of the pommel carved with a band of hearts and the pommel cap of flat circular brass form. The forte of the blade appears to be stamped with a small crown which has been overstamped with an X to obscure it.
