A VERY RARE NAMED HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY OFFICER'S 1817 PATTERN HELMET AND TIN ENSEMBLE

the plated steel skull with embossed brass rayed helmet plate surmounted by an embossed Royal arms, motto and battle honours in scroll banner form WATERLOO and PENINSULA, laurel spray trim, raised plated comb with gadrooned brass borders, black bearskin crest, lion's mask bosses, velvet backed chin scales with lion's mask clasps, leather liner, contained in its very rare japanned storage tin with owner's name J. TROTTER ESQ 2nd Life Guards. Captain John Trotter joined he 2nd Life Guards as a Coronet in May 1825, Lieutenant October 1827 before attaining the rank of Captain in 1830. Generally good to very good.
