A SCARCE FRENCH CUSTOMS OFFICER'S CUTLASS
72.25cm curved fullered broad blade etched Custodes Regum Antiques to one side and Pour Mon Roi & Ma Patrie on the other, regulation brass hilt with D-shaped knuckle guard with two scroll supports and fretted Fleur de Lys. Circa 1775 and in the Petits Montmorency style, these scarce weapons were issued to the French navy during the shortages of The American War of Independence.
