OF INDIAN ARMY INTEREST - THE 1831 PATTERN GENERAL OFFICER'S MAMELUKE TO LIEUTENANT GENERAL FAULKNOR

83cm curved clipped back blade etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cypher, laurel wreaths, crossed sword and baton and J.A.S. FAULKNOR in scroll banner form, further etched at the forte LIEUT GENL FAULKNOR, regulation gilt hilt, the crossguard chased with rank insignia within a wreath, two-piece foliate riveted ivory grips, in its brass scabbard, complete with bullion knot. Faulknor served with the 6th Bombay Native Infantry in the Scinde, Afghanistan and the Indian Mutiny. Ensign: 12 December 1840, Lieutenant: 16 July 1842, Captain: 12 June 1852, Major: 18 February 1861, Lieutenant Colonel: 6 November 1866, Colonel: 12 December 1871, Major General: 1 March 1882, Lieutenant General: 1 July 1886, General: 1 March 1891.
