AN 1895 PATTERN INFANTRY OFFICER'S PRESENTATION SWORD

82.5cm clean blade by Mappin & Webb, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cyphers and the inscription - Presented to Captain A.J. Sykes by the N.C. Officers & Men of F (Cheadle) Company 3rd V.B.C.R. as a token of Esteem Oct. 1897, regulation pierced steel hilt incorporating a crowned VR cypher, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its plated steel scabbard. A very clean sword with good original finish and polish to the blade.
