A PAIR OF SILVER MOUNTED 22-BORE QUEEN ANNE PISTOLS BY NORTH OF LONDON

5.5inch three-stage turn-off cannon barrels, engraved with bands of foliage at the breech and E. NORTH ROYL. EXCHANGE, stamped EN and with proofs to the underside of the breech and LONDON to the side, border and foliate engraved barrel tangs, border engraved rounded actions, sliding trigger guard safeties, flared wooden butts with hallmarked silver grotesque mask butt caps, silver stand of arms escutcheons and sideplate ornaments, the former engraved with the crest of a bird with outstretched wings perched on a tree stump, the back of the wrists carved with a scallop form. (2) Edward North, free of the Gunmaker's Company in 1729.
