A 17TH CENTURY ENGLISH CIVIL WAR PERIOD MORTUARY HILTED BACK SWORD

79cm double fullered blade incised HOUN. MLACIT, characteristic hilt composed of three upturned panels, each embossed with a bust, the two side panels pierced with geometric designs, D-shaped knuckle guard with two scroll supports, large thumb ring, spherical pommel, later copper wire bound grip. Inscription to the blade would suggest Hounslow. Together with a 1796 Pattern infantry officer's sword. Both lacking scabbards. (2)
