AN ENGLISH CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD CIRCA 1680

78.5cm fullered blade, characteristic North European cavalry hilt with D-shaped knuckle guard with two scroll supports, the solid looping side guards with traces of gilt finish, decorated with scrolling foliage and two female forms bearing urns of wine, flattened bun-shaped pommel, wire bound grip with turk's heads. See ’London Silver-hilted Swords’, p.274, plate 9, for a similar, but slightly later silver version by Richard Fuller, HM London.
