AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY MODEL OF A COEHORN MORTAR AND CARRIAGE

1.4inch diameter bore, 4.25inch three-stage barrel with ring turned muzzle and touch hole to the breech, plain trunnions, mounted on its wheeled wooden siege carriage, the left side of the frame stamped IIIF and dated 1831, working swivel elevation adjustment. The Coehorn mortar was used by both the Confederate and Union armies during the American Civil War.
