A RARE GERMAN WORLD WAR II BOWL OF HONOUR FOR EXCELLENT COMBAT ACHIEVEMENTS

awarded to HAUPTMANN HERBERT KOMPCH 10th February 1944, the centre decorated with an eagle and swastika, recipient's name and date of award above, IN ANERKENNUNG HERVORRAGENDER KAMPFLEISTUNGEN below, the border decorated with oak leaves, the base marked Feinsilber Alpaka (nickel silver) Auflage above the maker's name Joh. Wagner & Sohn.
Herman Goering introduced this award in 1942 for bravery in the field for Luftwaffe parachute and ground troops.
Herbert Kompch (born Aug.12th 1912 Lyck, Prussia, died March 25th 1944 Ukraine SSR) is recorded as having been a Luftwaffe captain by the date of this award. He was awarded the Iron Cross Class 1, the Iron Cross Class 2, this platter, the Anti-Aircraft medal, and the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
