79cm colichemarde blade of flattened hexagonal section engraved at the forte with foliage and the motto "Never draw me without reason, never sheath me without honour" in French, boatshell hilt with spirally fluted knuckle guard, pommel and quillon block, silver wire and tape bound grip, indistinct hallmarks. A very similar sword is illustrated in Swords for Sea Service, pl.11, sword no.312 which is hallmarked for 1761.
