64cm curved fullered blade, brass hilt with heart-shaped guard, D-shaped knuckle bow supported by two scrolling side bars, chamois liner, ribbed ebonised grip, contained in its brass mounted leather scabbard. While the hilt resembles that of mid 18th Century English hangers, the width of the blade would suggest that this is more probably adapted for use by a privateer.
